Katy Man Dies of Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound as Police Showed with Warrant

When Harris County Sheriff’s Office CSI and Homicide Detectives arrived to a home in the Oak Park Trails neighborhood near Cinco Ranch to serve a warrant, the man authorities sought killed himself.

Authorities with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office CSI and Homicide Divisions responded to serve a warrant yesterday at the 2000 block of Edendale Circle. Harris County authorities were assisting U.S. Marshals Violent Offenders.

According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the officers breached the door and then heard a gunshot. They then found who is believed to have been the wanted man dead on-scene from a self-inflicted gunshot.

Sheriff Gonzalez also reported that no law enforcement officers were injured.

The incident occurred around 11:30 a.m. December 18, 2025. The suspect, who hasn’t been identified, was wanted for organized crime out of Harris County and assault with a deadly weapon out of Bexar County.

Texas Rangers are leading the ongoing investigation along with assistance from the Harris county Sherrif’s Office Homicide and Crime Scene Units.

Major Ben Katrib briefed media after the incident and stressed that there was no ongoing threat to the community but this case is still under investigation.
