Hope Impacts, a Katy non-profit that serves local homeless, is seeking help as they operate a warming center out of a local church. As Katy experiences a record-breaking winter storm, the group asks for donations and volunteers as they help Katy homeless.
Homeless Warming Center at CrossPoint
Hope Impacts is operating a warming center for area homeless at CrossPoint Katy (700 Westgreen.) Temperatures are well below freezing and ice and snow blanket Katy roads.
Volunteers, Monetary Donations Needed
“We are providing a safe place to be while offering hot showers, pillows, blankets, cots coats, snacks, socks, drinks, etc. to meet needs,” says Tina Hatcher, founder and executive director of Hope Impacts.
The warming center opened last night as Katy’s temperature dropped and they are currently making plans through Saturday, February 19. Hope Impacts has a sign-up genius for volunteers.

Hope Impacts is asking for Katy residents to hold off donating material items until they can sort through their needs. Funds can be donated here.
“We want to thank our board of directors, partners, staff, volunteers, and donors for the many blessings of food, supplies, time, money, and prayers,” says Hatcher. “Your generosity has blown us away.”
It’s currently 14 degrees in Katy and projections don’t have us reaching above freezing until tomorrow. Snow and ice cover roads causing several closures.
Authorities Urge Residents to Stay Home
The bridges at Cane Island and Pin Oak are both iced over and closed. East-Bound I-10 Service Road (South-Side), between FM 1463 and Pin Oak Road is closed as is the Grand Parkway overpass at 1-10.
Authorities urge residents to stay home and off roads.
For the latest on road closures visit the City of Katy’s website. Trash pick-up through Texas Pride also has announced canceled service for to today.
