Residents in Katy’s Grand Lakes are concerned about the idea of a motel being built in their community. The topic will be discussed and voted at tonight’s HOA meeting. The topic was only announced this morning.

The Perez family has lived in Grand Lakes since 2019 and like many families, moved here for the community.
“Motels are notorious hotspots for drugs and human trafficking, this is a real and present threat to your kids and our property values,” says Joe Perez.
The business being discuss is a motel, nothing like a hotel with a lobby and included breakfast. This is a business called Westpark Motel and would be located at Peek and Westpark Tollway behind the Dairy Queen.
Perez states that the HOA (which Katy Magazine was unable to reach) says that this was discussed five years ago and that he checked and couldn’t find the minutes for it. However, Perez believes that regardless of what anyone thought five years ago, the concern is very much in present.
Grand Lakes HOA is meeting tonight, January 27, 2025 at 6:00 p.m. in a Zoom meeting.

Perez hopes that others will attend and express their concerns. Please note that the meeting is only for residents of the Grand Lakes area.
The discussion and vote for the Westpark Motel is on tonight’s agenda. The fact that a vote will occur proves that this topic hasn’t previously been approved.
Katy continues to grow as with it comes new businesses.
"This is a dangerous business that doesn't just impact the Grand Lakes community but everyone in the Katy and Cinco Ranch communities too," says Perez.
