Katy’s Central Green Park Gets an Update Ahead of End of Summer, Back to School Events

Central Green Park, a center for Katy family fun, got an update last week leading into their end of summer events and big annual Back to School Bash. See why local families love this free event venue.
Katy’s Central Green Park, located in LaCenterra (23501 Cinco Ranch Blvd.,) is a half-acre public park dedicated to giving Katy families events like fitness classes, free movie nights, live music, and more. This year, they celebrate 13 years of serving the Katy community. Last week they got new turf for families to enjoy while attending events.
In addition to upcoming concerts, Central Green Park has announced their 13th annual Back to School Bash that will take place on August 1, 2026.
“The Back to School Bash is an opportunity to meet future classmates, make friends, donate school supplies, visit with owners of after care programs and another opportunity to make the most of the summer,” says Yvonne Arceneaux, Willow Fork Drainage District’s Park Director.
The Back to School Bash starts at 7:00 p.m. Families can enjoy live music by RPM & The Bandits, performances by Intempo Dance, a fun scavenger hunt, plus plenty of prizes and giveaways.
“Going back to school or starting the school year can be filled with enthusiasm. It can also be stressful to some students,” says Arceneaux. “The Back to School Bash is a fun atmosphere for kids to meet some of the students they will be going to school with, build excitement for the new year and let them see opportunities that will be available to them.”
Central Green also offers free fitness classes. Yoga is offered twice on Fridays with the first class starting at 8:00 a.m. and the second at 9:15 a.m. Tai Chi is on Saturdays at 8:30 a.m.
This weekend, the park will offer two concert events. Nevels and the Crew takes the stage on Friday, July 17, 2026, at 7:30 p.m. and then on July 18, 2026, families can enjoy Nervous Rex.
Central Green Park, developed by Willow Fork Drainage District (WFDD,) is located at the south end of LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch. It is a true entertainment destination close to shopping dining, theaters, and libraries. The park provides a multi-purpose venue for many standing weekly events, monthly events, special events, and more.
