"For decades, Katy’s rice fields were a vital source for millions of migratory snow geese, creating an iconic scene that became part of the city’s identity,” says Kaci Maris, City of Katy Tourism and Marketing Event Coordinator. “The geese were more than just seasonal visitors — they were a symbol of our agricultural heritage and the natural beauty of the Katy Prairie.”

The City of Katy took great care in the plans for the geese. From irrigation plans to landscaping, electrical engineering to font choices, every detail was carefully crafted with love for the community.

“The newly installed geese sculptures at Katy Corner are a beautiful tribute to that history and a meaningful addition to the revitalization of downtown. As our city continues to grow and thrive with new shops, restaurants, murals, events, and a welcoming visitor center, the geese remind us of where we came from and why Katy is such a special place to visit — and to call home," says Maris.

The statue will be easily seen at community events as the City of Katy Historic Town Square is the place to be in this community for many events including the upcoming Katy Rice Festival.
