PROM MUST KNOWS

plan ahead!

The senior prom should be a magical occasion to remember for a lifetime. Proper planning of every detail ensures that dream can be realized. Keep to a budget, organize your group and start the countdown!

[ FOR THE GIRLS ]

  • Allow plenty of time for dress alterations.

  • Test out undergarments and special tapes to keep covered and in place.

  • Make hair appointment - have pictures/ideas ready, as well as accessories; wear a top that doesn't go over the head.

  • Book makeup appointment - wear clothing that will not affect the makeup.

  • Make you mani-pedi appointment, plan for a longer appointment if adding special finishing touches.

  • Order the boutonniere or corsage from the florist (coordinate the flower colors with the dress).

  • Test out the high heels to prevent blisters, or the need to go barefoot (the dress was probably not hemmed to allow three fewer inches).

  • Choose reasonable accessories - those big sparkly earrings might weigh more than imagined, causing much discomfort.

[ FOR THE GUYS ]

  • Rent tuxedo - coordinate with date on color and style; make sure it fits well

  • Shine those shoes (even if they're rented)

  • Shave and a get a haircut

  • MAN-icures - great idea!

  • Order the boutonniere or corsage from the florist (coordinate the flower colors with the dress).

[ FOR THE PLANNER IN THE GROUP ]

  • Coordinate well with others, including parents - set up a group chat so details can be shared with everyone.

  • Plan a budget with the group - divide up the costs evenly, and REMEMBER TIPS/GRATUITY.

  • Choose a location for photos - plan enough time before the dinner reservation to capture all of your shots.

  • Make dinner reservations - ask about a fixed price meal for the group.

  • Book transportation/limousine.

  • Plan after-prom get-together.
