Man Killed in Katy Drive by Shooting

A man was killed this morning in a drive by shooting at the intersection of 99 and 529 in Katy. The scene is still taped off as it’s under investigation.


 

Deputies with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office are still investigating a deadly shooting that is being called a drive-by shooting.


 

The incident occurred at the intersection of SH-99 (Grand Parkway) near FM 529 around 2:48 a.m. on the northbound lanes.

 

When authorities arrived at the scene a man was found inside a vehicle and had multiple gunshot wounds. He was then pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Authorities have not released the name of the victim or any further details about the shooter. At this time the suspect hasn’t been identified or arrested.

 

The investigation is ongoing and this is a developing story.

 

Harris County continues to rank among the highest in the nation for road rage incidents that involve a gun. Many of these incident lead to a shooting that result in injury or death.

 

Harris County Precinct 5 Provides the Following Tip:

  • If you encounter an aggressive driver, don’t respond.

  • Avoid eye contact.

  • Don’t respond to aggression with aggression.

  • Avoid offensive hand gestures.

  • Don’t honk your horn.

 

If you’re being followed or if an enraged driver points a gun at you, call 911 and provide a detailed description of the vehicle and the driver. If you feel safe to do so, take a picture.
