More Trails Coming to the City of Katy

The Katy City Council approved a new design contract that will bring 2 miles of trails to the city for residents to enjoy.

The Katy City Council approved a $348120 design for Phase 1 for a project that will include approximately two miles of a citywide trail system. Phase 1 will create a 12-foot concrete trail from Morton Road to 10th street.

“Mobility and walking space, along with the long-term when all phases are completed of a complete walking trail between the future Leyendecker Landing Park at Morton Rd and Pitts Rd and downtown Katy,” explains City of Katy Manager Kevin Browne.

 

This design phase should be wrapped up by December 2025, then bid and construction to last approximately twelve months.  It is expected to open in 2027.

Additional trail segments will be completed as part of street and roadway mobility projects, including:

 

  • 10th Street from Bartlett Road to Avenue C

  • Avenue C from 10th Street to Historic Town Square

  • Morton Road from Cane Island Branch to Pitts Road

  • Pitts Road from Morton to Leyendecker Landing Park
