New Downtown Katy Bookshop Celebrates Women Authors Through Inspired Interactions

Katy has a new bookshop in the heart of downtown where readers can find all genres, but each book found will be written by a woman author. The fun addition to the Historic Downtown Katy plans for fun events starting with tomorrow.
Longtime Katy resident, mom, and author Afton Seeser will turn a dream into reality tomorrow, August 29, 2026, with the grand opening of her bookshop (1001 Avenue B.). The Lost Story Bookshop will celebrate the day with the first fifty guests receiving complimentary bookish themed mimosas and a goodie bag will go to the first twenty-five in line.
Afton Seeser has lived in Katy for 11 years. She is married with two children. She is an author as well and loves to support local indie authors.
The new store, in the heart of Old Town Katy, will be open tomorrow from 10:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. and then in again in the evening from 6:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m.
“It just didn’t make sense why Old Town Katy didn’t have a bookshop,” says Afton Seeser. “Something just told me to do this, and I listened to those whispers.”
Seeser also shares that cocktail/mocktail vouchers will be given to the first twenty guests in the evening line.
The bookshop will host events, book clubs, author events, yoga, and more.
The Lost Story Bookshop is an old Katy home that has been transformed to host every genre of literature in unique themes. Rooms take on the theme of their genre such as the romantic looking “romance room.”
Seeser hopes this will be a space where women can find a place and be inspired not just from pages but from their interactions.
“I want women to come together, talk, share stories,” she explains. “I want them to come together to inspire and listen to whatever situation others are going through.”
Seeser took inspiration from small independent bookshops she saw in Georgetown and around. She is an indie author and through her experience of visiting bookstores, she made connections and ideas that inspired her own.
She’s planning fun events such a holiday parties for Halloween and Christmas, but she’s very excited to host a Katy Midnight Release Party for ACOTAR 6 (A Court of Thorns and roses series) on October 26, 2026. Details are on the website.
The area around the City of Katy Historic Town Square continues to be full of fun and community. The Lost Story Bookshop wants to bring people together.
“I hope those who come enjoy Interactions that can inspire others to see changes in perspectives,” says Seeser.
