Katy’s growth will finally earn its own DPS office where residents can care for driver’s license needs including new drivers celebrating this rite of passage without leaving their hometown.

The Texas Department of Public Safety plans to open a new facility at 23626 Kingsland Blvd. this spring. The Katy area continues to grow and adding such a service will make things like getting a new driver’s license easier and for new driver’s, special by staying in their city.
The new facility is planned to offer 32-counters, which will greatly support the growing area.
The office will offer all standard driver’s license services and commercial driver’s license skills testing. The building will also include vehicle-testing area canopies.
Katy used to have an office, but it closed 17 years ago. This new building will greatly help Katy families who have had to drive to Rosenberg, League City or other neighboring cities with an office.
By staying local, this takes a needed service and makes it easier for families. Less time will be missed from school and/or work helping families better manage their time.
Katy continues to grow and this is another example of how the city work to keep up with the development to help support the needs of the families who call this place home.
