The City of Katy has opened a new Visitor Center that informs and educates visitors of all ages on our history and more. The center is perfect to greet summertime travelers and those who want to learn about and explore Katy.

The City of Katy’s new Visitor Center (5718 2nd Street) is open and ready to welcome both out of towners and residents as it offers an engaging, interactive experience that showcases both Katy and the surround areas.
Visit the Historic Town Square
The Visitor Center is part of the downtown revitalization project that also includes the newly renovated town square. Both serve as a central hub that connects everything happening downtown including award-winning City of Katy events.
“From our long-standing local businesses to exciting new shops, vibrant murals, and award-winning events like the Katy Rice Harvest Festival and the Katy Exchange Saturday Market, the center ties it all together,” explains Kaci Maris, City of Katy Tourism and Marketing Event Coordinator.

More than a Visitors Center
The center provides guests with digital event listings and flyers about local parks and programs. There are even videos of past parades and festivals.
“It’s more than just a visitor center—it’s a reflection of the community spirit driving downtown Katy forward,” says Maris.
The center highlights Katy’s rich history in rice farming, oil production, as well as the iconic MKT railroad. There is an interactive play area where children can learn about the city through hands-on exhibits.
Visitors can learn about local attractions, dining, entertainment, and Katy life through an interactive giant touchscreen.
“From shopping local boutiques to dining at nearby restaurants, the center is designed to be the first stop on a memorable Katy experience,” says Maris.
It’s a perfect stop for those new to Katy or a seasoned Katyite who wants to see the center after Katy was featured on The Daytripper.
The center offers a fun and interactive way to learn about Katy’s history and local favorites. It’s designed to help families discover those “hidden gems.”

Plan a Visit
The Visitor Center is open Thursday-Saturday 10:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m. and Sundays 11:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.
“It’s the perfect starting point to get the most out of your time in Katy,” says Maris. “It's not just for tourists—it’s a place to connect with the heart of Katy.”
