Redmon, Perez Sworn into Katy ISD School Board
In a regular school board meeting last night full of recognitions throughout the Katy ISD District, both Lance Redmon and Victor Perez were sworn into office and began their new term in office.
Redmon Continues to Serve District in Second Term
Lance Redmon continues to serve the Katy ISD Board of Trustees in Position 2. Redmon was also elected the select officer position of Vice President. Redmon was first elected to the Katy ISD School Board in May 2019. He is a graduate of Katy High School. He has lived in Katy with his wife for 37 years and currently has three children attending Katy ISD schools.
Perez Pledges to Seek Opportunities to Get Highest Pay for Katy Teachers
Victor Perez is now serving his first term in Position 1. Perez recently retired from a career as a public company CFO in the energy industry and former commercial banker. He and his wife of 47 years have three children who have graduated from Katy ISD. They currently have eight grandchildren in the school district. His whole family was present to support him as he took office.
“It was a great honor and privilege to be sworn in as a Katy ISD board member,” says Victor Perez. “It’s a responsibility I take very seriously. My first priority is to work through the 2022-2023 budget process immediately looking for opportunities to get our teachers the highest salary increase possible.”
Both Redmon and Perez took part in both the remainder of the Closed and Regular Board meetings last night following their swearing in ceremony.
School Board Officers Elected
Also, last night the Katy ISD Board elected its slate of officers to serve the upcoming school year. Greg Schulte was elected as the 2022-2023 president, Lance Redmon as vice president and Ashley Vann as secretary.
“I feel humbled by the Board’s trust in my leadership and thank them and our community for the confidence you have both instilled in me to continue as your school board president,” says Greg Schulte, Board President at Katy ISD. “It is an absolute privilege to serve the Katy ISD community and I look forward to working alongside the Trustees as we move into the 2022-2023 school year.”
The Katy ISD Board of Trustees is the governing body that oversees and shapes district policies. Each position serves a three-year term.
Current Katy ISD Board of Trustees include: Greg Schulte- President, Lance Redmon- Vice President, Ashley Vann- Secretary, Dawn Champagne- Member, Rebecca Fox- Member, Leah Wilson- Member, and Victor Perez- Member.
Valedictorian, Salutatorians, Katy High School FFA Recognized
In a very long meeting last night (4 hours and 17 minutes in the public meeting,) the District recognized each high school’s valedictorian and salutatorians. Learn more about these outstanding students.

The Katy High School FFA Poultry team was also recognized for earning the State Championship in the Poultry Evaluation category at the recent Career Development Event.

Katy ISD Approves New Positions
The Board of Trustees also approved Dr. Emily Craig as the District’s newest Assistant Superintendent for Secondary School Leadership and Support during last night’s meeting. Dr. Craig is replacing Jeff Stocks, who will be retiring at the end of the school year.
The Board also approved the naming of three new principals: Thea Wofford for Exley Elementary, Tanya Heard for Rylander Elementary and Jason Brown for Williams Elementary.
This was the last regular Katy ISD Board of Trustee Meeting for the 2021-2022 academic year.
