Houston Texans Recognize Paetow Football Coach

The Houston Texans surprised Paetow football coach William Gotte at the start of practice yesterday with their Coach of the Week award. Gotte also earned a $2,500 grant to be applied towards the football program.

20 Years of Coaching

Coach Gotte, a 20-year veteran football coach, has been with the Paetow Panthers since they started in 2017 as the school’s first Athletic Coordinator and Head Football Coach.

"My passion is football, but my purpose is positive influence,” says Coach Gotte. “Competitive success is great, but at this stage in my career, I get just as much or more gratification from stories I have with former players. They credit our impact on them for their success as fathers, husbands, business owners, or community leaders."

Before Paetow he was with the Katy High School Tigers and helped to lead them to championships in 2012 and 2015 as the offensive coordinator. He served as an assistant coach for the Tigers since 2009.

Gotte’s coaching credits also include Deer Park, La Marque and Flower Mound Marcus high schools.

Panthers Currently Undefeated

The Paetow Panthers are currently undefeated this season with a 4-0 record. They are off this week but next play away at Milby on September 30.

Coach Gotte, a Katy native, is thrilled to see a more “normal” football season this year. He says that the Panthers are disciplined, physical, and play for each other with a strong senior leadership.

The Houston Texans (presented by Houston Methodist) recognize a high school football coach each week during football season. The coach is selected based on their positive impact on student athletes, their community, and football program.

"Coaching is all about the X's and O's,” says Coach Gotte. “Success in the game is achieved through individual actions or performances."
