Katy Christian Ministries (KCM) has opened the doors to their second resale shop. Proceeds from the new store, located on Kingsland Boulevard, will help the non-profit organization to better support and grow valuable services to meet increasing demands of the community.

Second Store Open on Kingsland Boulevard

The second Katy Christian Ministries resale shop opened its doors yesterday and is accepting donations. The new 9,000 square-foot store, located at 23232 Kingsland Boulevard, has the same hours of operation, Monday-Saturday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, as the original First Street location.

"At opening time we had 10 people in line at the door," says Deysi Crespo, Executive Director. "All day we had a constant flow of customers."

"This opening is two years in the making," says Crespo. "We always read feedback and for a long time the community has asked for a second shop. We listened. A lot of research and consideration went into these plans and we were strategic about geographic location to open where we could best reach clients and customers."

Proceeds Fund Programming

"89 cents of each dollar from our store proceeds goes to support programs that change lives," says Katie Patterson, Director of Communications. "We hear testimonies from people who have been clients and now they are out in the community making a difference and giving back."

KCM is already getting positive feedback on the new store. "We've heard many compliments about how spacious it is," says Crespo. "Everyone is walking around with big smiles."

A Call for Specific Donations

With the opening of the new store, KCM is requesting some specific donations in addition to their standard list.

"We want to recycle from home so we can use our budget and proceeds for other needs," explains Patterson. KCM is requesting the following items:

  • Plastic hangers (commercial kind)

  • Plastic bags

  • Tissue paper to wrap breakable items

Volunteers Needed

KCM is also seeking volunteers to meet the demand as their services continue to grow. They need volunteers to:

  • Process donations

  • Work check-out (cashiers)

  • Stage displays

  • Answer calls, schedule pick-ups

Serving Katy for 35 Years

This new addition to KCM comes at a very exciting milestone. Celebrating 35 years, the non-profit offers social services, a crisis center, and food pantry. KCM has been serving the people of Katy and the surrounding communities since the 80's.

"We are grateful for the community love and support," says Crespo. "It's a beautiful gift to get to do this on our 35th celebration year!"

"We are only able to do this because of the support of our community," says Patterson. "We are very blessed and humble."
