Around 9:21 a.m. Harris County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to a call at a Katy apartment complex located at 20110 Park Row Drive, near South Fry Road.

Upon arrival they found an adult female (43) and her 7-year-old son deceased. An adult male (42,) who is believed to be the shooter, was Lifeflighted to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

While the incident is still under investigation, authorities believe that this is a double murder/homicide and suicide.

“This is a very tragic situation,” said Sheriff Gonzalez when he addressed the community this morning. “Our condolences go out to all the families impacted by this and the community as well, because we know this can be traumatic.”

According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the couple’s 19-year-old daughter and her visiting boyfriend where in the apartment unit at the time of the shooting, but in another room. They were unharmed and will be interviewed as part of the investigation.

Authorities have not found any record or history of calls to the unit. After speaking with family members, it seems that the adult male had recently suffered depression and has been out of work. It is unclear what led to this morning’s event.
