Katy ISD Invites Certified Teachers to Free Job Fair

Katy ISD, one of Texas' premier school districts, will hold a free Certified Teacher Fair Saturday, April 27, 2019 at the Leonard E. Merrell Center. The district needs to accommodate the growing student population and prepare for the new schools opening in the coming years.

The Katy ISD Certified Teacher Fair will be held April 27 at the Merrell Center, 6301 South Stadium Lane, Katy. Every Katy ISD campus will be represented at the fair which will be offered in two parts:

8:30 am – 11:30 am – Junior High and High School

1:00 pm – 4:00 pm – Elementary

“This job fair is a perfect opportunity for a certified teacher to introduce themselves to Katy ISD,” says Human Resources Coordinator Katye Shields. “Katy ISD is known as a Texas premier school district because of its devoted educators who take pride in their role of helping students create a bright future,” added Shields.

Qualifications for Attendees

The 2019 Certified Teacher Fair will be open to current Katy ISD employees who meet transfer eligibility requirements. In-district employees must be on the transfer list in order to attend. All applicants must bring a copy of their certification and/or TEA/SBEC content exam scores.

There is no preregistration required for the event, and admission is free. However, organizers of the fair recommend attendees submit a completed application, prior to the event, at www.katyisd.org.

Be Prepared

All certified teachers attending the fair should bring the following:

  1. Resume – print enough copies to share with the individual campuses (42 elementary, 16 junior high and 11 high school).

  2. Copy of certification or test scores (proof of certification is require to attend the event).

Katy ISD serves over 80,000 students, enrolling an additional 2,500 each year. On the school district's website, the Human Resources department says, "Katy ISD hires 2,000+ teachers, counselors, librarians, nurses, administrators, paraprofessional, food service workers, bus drivers, custodial employees and others each year."
