Artist Shares Passion for the Word of Jesus in Art Show

Katy artist Wayne Kerr is hosting an art show next weekend named for his inspiration, “The Words of Jesus.” He’s known by many for his ministries and music.
“I felt called to do it again,” explains Wayne Kerr, who hosted his first art show last year in Katy. “I started seeing thoughts in my mind on the words of Jesus and images just came.”
Wayne Kerr will present his new art this Thursday (November 12, 2026, 12-8 p.m.) and Friday (November 13, 2026, 12-5 p.m.) at The Bowery House (24902 Franz Rd.)
Visual art has always been part of Kerr’s life even though so many people know him for his music. He now is the Artist in Residence at Grace Fellowship, which allows him to focus on his art whether it’s visual or through music.
“I was that kid who kept asking his parents, ‘What should I draw now?’ I went on to get my degree in visual arts, but then put it down for 25 years while pursuing music ministry and song-writing,” explains Kerr. “But all along the way, the art never left my heart.”
He sold over twenty paintings during his first show last year and continues to sell prints that are on sale at Buc-ee’s. Kerr encourages other artists to take risks and listen to what their heart is telling them to do.
“When something is in your heart and you keep dreaming about it, go for it,” says Kerr.
Kerr is also debuting a calendar that will feature prints designed to help inspire those through the words of Jesus and his teachings. He has dedicated the calendar to his mother, JoAnn Kerr who passed away in April.
“My mom and dad made so many sacrifices for me to take art lessons,” says Kerr. “She worked hard to get me to art or music. Now has a parent I see how hard it is and I put everything into my girls like she did that for me.”
At the event Kerr will be offering a silent auction item of a blank canvas. The proceeds of this painting, to be designed after the owner is selected, will go to support Emerge Global. This nonprofit support single mothers and their children that go from surviving to thriving.
