On Wednesday, students and staff members at Leonard, McRoberts, Griffin, and Stephens elementary schools in Katy welcomed Alex Bregman of the Houston Astros. Bregman helped distribute brand new iPads as part of his Bregman Cares charity.

The students and staff were dressed in Astros gear and delivered handmade signs to their special guest. Bregman autographed shirts and balls for his many fans.

“It feels great to see their smiles,” says Alex Bregman. “It’s been great to be able to hand out iPads today.”

Giving Back to the Community

Bregman made a pledge to himself that if he made it to the “big leagues” he would invest the same energy on the field as off the field to help others.

Bregman believes in social responsibility, and the Bregman Cares website says, “He’s in a position to make a positive impact on the world through awareness, support, time, and resources.”

Bregman Cares has raised over $1.5 million to help feed Houstonians impacted by the coronavirus pandemic and donated 1000 quarantine food kits to the Houston Food Bank to ensure students received free lunches.

“Schools are doing a great job of keeping students safe and also helping them learn,” says Bregman. “Katy ISD has done a great job in these tough times and is helping the kids through their learning.”
