Katy Budget Books officially opened at their new location at 870 S. Mason Road Friday, December 20. Their dedicated staff hopes to bring their passion for the printed word closer to the majority of their customers.

Labor of Love

Katy Budget Books opened its original location on Mason Road in 1983. The business is a labor of love for founder and owner Tamra Dore. The Katy High School graduate has created a haven for lovers of books and purveyors of literature.

Rebel with a Cause

In today’s high-tech world, entire libraries can fit comfortably and affordably in your pocket, and the expanse of the digital world is just a login away. KBB stands out as a rebel in this electronically dependent society. This locally-owned-and-operated, brick and mortar continues to hold steadfast within the Katy community to honor the history of the written word. KBB affords the next generation of readers a dwindling opportunity to peruse shelves of paper and ink.

Katy Community Outreach

Immersed in the Katy community since day one, Katy Budget Books offers many events and opportunities as outreach to the people whom it serves. Local area teachers can take advantage of the teacher credit program where they get “insanely discounted books” for their classroom (teachers must show valid school ID).

Kids and parents alike can enjoy a Storytime every Wednesday at 10 a.m., and nationally known authors are often invited to come meet with customers and answer questions.
