Clothed By Faith Seeks Volunteers

Clothed by Faith, a Katy based nonprofit that provides gently used clothing for those in need, is seeking volunteers to keep up with their donations.

Serving Katy and Surrounding Communities

Clothed by Faith serves around 43,646 clients in Katy and the surrounding communities. Last year around 500 pounds of clothes were donated. Clothed by Faith is mostly served by volunteers. During Katy's recovery in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey they were one of many organizations that really stepped up to serve.

"Clothed By Faith provides a weeks worth of Clothing, Shoes, New Underwear and Socks (when available) to those in need throughout the Houston & Katy areas. Our volunteers assist us by sorting donations that have been received and also making up bags to fill client requests," says Rebecca Earnshaw, Executive Assistant. Marketing, Events and Development Manager for Clothed by Faith.

A Volunteer Experience

"I had volunteered with Clothed By Faith during Hurricane Harvey. They were so organized and I could tell they were doing beautiful things," says volunteer Catherine Walker. The Walker family took their love for Clothed by Faith a step further when the kids collected 700 pairs of socks to donate. Read more about their story here.

Seeking More Volunteers

Donations are always needed but the organization is looking for some more volunteers. "Our volunteers assist us by sorting donations and making up bags of clothing for our clients," explains Earnshaw.

"The level of donations needing to be sorted varies at any time, according to what people have dropped off to us, we have had quite a few schools and groups do clothing drives for us recently, But our requirement for volunteers to assist us, remains a constant need," says Earnshaw.

How to Volunteer

Clothed by Faith is open Monday through Friday with volunteer shifts being a 10 a.m. to noon, noon to 2 p.m., and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The minimum age to volunteer is 14 years. 14 and 15 years old must be accompanied by an adult also volunteering.

Between the two branches, Clothed by Faith currently has about 150-160 volunteers helping monthly.

Serving Katy Since 2013

Clothed by Faith was founded in 2013 by Abi Morton. "After some research, it was a shock to discover just how big an issue poverty is right here on my own doorstep," Morton explains on their website.

Clothed by Faith has two locations. One in Katy and one in South East Houston to better serve those in need.
