Graig Temple
Chief - Fort Bend County EMS
Hired by Fort Bend County as the Chief of EMS in 2015, Temple is a licensed Paramedic, an Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor, an outreach educator, and maintains his active status as a Bike Medic on the Fort Bend County EMS Bike Team.
Fourth Generation Firefighter
Temple's inspiration, his father, was a firefighter for 45 years and he comes from a long line of volunteer firefighters. "Once in the fire service, I found that I enjoyed Emergency Medical Services and immediately started my journey to be an EMT and then paramedic."
Earning Nationwide Certifications
In 1993, Temple obtained his EMT certification and began working for fire departments in Sussex County, Delaware. Three years later, he earned his paramedic certification and was hired by Sussex County EMS. He continued to grow and gain experience, and in 2010, his family moved to Texas.
Prior to hiring on in Fort Bend County, Temple worked for Cypress Creek EMS as a field Paramedic, Paramedic III/Supervisor, and Clinical Instructor. After he got an associate degree in fire science and while working on a bachelor's degree also in fire science, Temple was hired by the Anchorage Fire Department, in Alaska, as the Assistant Chief of Fire Operations. He then completed his master’s degree in emergency services management in 2014.
Public Outreach and Service
"I enjoy providing public outreach classes to Girl and Boy Scout troops," says Temple. "I am a member of the Indian River High School’s Hall of Fame, where I offer mentoring to any student that wishes to advance into a career in emergency services."
Temple has also maintained his membership with his Masonic Lodge, Glacier Lodge #10 of Anchorage, Alaska and he is a life member of the Millville Volunteer Fire Company in Delaware.
Enjoying an Active Family Life
Temple's wife is a former paramedic and a registered nurse at a local hospital. They have three children. Their oldest son is in the U.S. Army assigned to the 10th Mountain Division. Their middle son is finishing his junior year of high school and their daughter, an avid volleyball player, is heading into her sophomore year. The Temples enjoy traveling, visiting extended family on the east coast, biking trails, and watching movies or their favorite TV series together. They are also HUGE Astros fans.
