The Harris Couty Sheriff’s Department and the Houston Police Department are still investigating a shooting that occurred yesterday morning in the Katy area. Initial reports indicate that a man (42-years-old) shot his ex-girlfriend (38-years-old) and then drove to a different location to take drugs before turning the gun on himself. She remains in critical condition, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez updated the community on the situation yesterday. He reported that the shooting occurred at North Mason Road near Franz around 7:15 a.m. yesterday morning. He stated that a 911 call came in describing gunfire.

According to Sheriff Gonzalez, the woman had gone to the parking lot to meet up with her ex-boyfriend when he shot her multiple times, which resulted in her crashing her car.

The woman was taken to a nearby hospital and then LifeFlighted to a different hospital due to the severity of her injuries. As of last night, she was still reported to be in critical condition.

After the initial shooting, the man drove to a gas station near Katy Freeway and Eldridge Parkway, where Sheriff Gonzalez says he took some narcotics before shooting himself.

Upon arrival, deputies found the man dead from his self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
