The Boardwalk Lofts Expected to Open this Fall
Katy has many exciting development projects planned, including the Katy Boardwalk District that will be located off of Kingsland Blvd. south of I-10 near Katy Mills Mall. The first phase of the residential component, The Boardwalk Lofts, is expected to open this fall as Katy’s newest luxury apartment community. The developer looks to attract restaurants, retail, and entertainment that will add to the space.
“We’ve heard from a number of concepts both here in Houston and across the country,” says Greene, who also manages Colliers hospitality advisory teams. “We’re certainly evaluating all of these opportunities to determine the best ones for the project.”
The Colliers Retail Team will manage the Katy Boardwalk District’s tenant leasing and are already in discussions with several notable restaurant, bar, and entertainment concepts.
The Katy Boardwalk could announce the project’s first tenants in early 2022.
90-Acres of Natural Preserve
A 90-acre lake and nature preserve will anchor the Katy entertainment destination. Method Architecture will work to re-imagine the mixed-use and retail site plan in order to best showcase Katy’s native trees, flora, and wildlife.
“The impact of COVID-19 gave us extra time to re-evaluate the site plan to ensure we’re incorporating the lakefront experience into the entire project,” says Keith Dalton of KBH Venture, co-developer of the Katy Boardwalk District.
A refined site plan is expected this fall. According to Dalton, the emphasis will be on accessibility to the lake for hotel guests and those visiting to dine or enjoy the outdoor setting.
Full Service Conference Center
Katy Boardwalk District will also be home to the city’s first full-service hotel and conference center, a 304-room, four-star property with ballroom and event space to accommodate large meetings and social gatherings.
The Katy Boardwalk is a 169-acre setting at Kingsland Boulevard and Prairie Parkway, just south of I-10. The entertainment and business center is a public/private partnership among the City of Katy, the Katy Development Authority, and developers KBH Venture and Sueba USA.
