Through the summer months Katy ISD is working hard to prepare to open two new elementary schools. Tours with the namesakes were conducted last week at Boudny Elementary.

Katy ISD will open two new elementary schools this academic season. Cross Elementary and Boudny Elementary will welcome students this season that will help manage the ongoing growth of the Katy community.
Boudny Elementary welcomed a tour of media and family this last week. The new school follows a Modified Repeat of McElwain and Youngblood Elementaries and will have 1,280 students at opening.
The school has been designed with growth in mind with multi-use space able to be used in various ways as the school’s needs change year to year.
Boudny Elementary was established through the 2023 Proposition Bond. It will help to relieve crowding from the Elyson community and other growth in the northwest quadrant of the District.

The estimated project cost is $58,356,952. Boudny Elementary feeds into the new Nelson Junior High and then Freeman High School.
The campus is located on the northwest corner of Katy Hockley Cut Off Road and FM 359. Boudny Elementary was built to address annual enrollment growth for students living in the northwest quadrant of the district, which continues to be the area’s fastest growing sector. The school will provide relief to existing campuses that currently house in surrounding attendance boundaries.
Alfred and Ann Boudny Elementary
Alfred (Al) and Ann Boudny Elementary follows the Katy ISD tradition of honoring worthy namesakes. Both Boudny’s always aspire to teach and both started their careers in the 1970s. Later Al Boudny joined Katy ISD at West Memorial Elementary. In 1981, he opened Nottingham Country Elementary with Richard Bruce as the 5th grade team lead, and in 1982, he and Ann helped open Memorial Parkway Junior High. In 1991, he helped open McDonald Junior High, where he was social studies department chair for 15 years and was named Teacher of the Year in 2000. Al retired with 39 years of teaching, 34 of them in Katy ISD. In retirement, he tutors at Katy Elementary, serves as a KEYS mentor, and volunteers at several schools.
In 1982, Ann joined Katy ISD with the opening of Memorial Parkway Junior High, where she served as department chair for 30 years, retiring in 2015 after 33 at the school. Both Al and Ann are active in the Katy Area Retired Educators (KARE) organization.
