Mayde Creek Quarterback Arrested
Donte Jones, 18, who plays quarterback for Katy ISD’s Mayde Creek High School football team was arrested Thursday. He’s been charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Victims Escape Safely After Shots Fired on Vehicle
Court documents indicate that the robbery occurred on August 22 at the Reserve By The Lake Apartments at the 18600 block in West Houston.
Jones and two others are accused of approaching three men in a Ford Mustang with firearms. As the driver of the Mustang drove off Jones and the other suspects fired at the vehicle and chased them down the road.
The victims got away unharmed and called police.
One of the victims identified Jones because they had attended Katy ISD’s Opportunity Awareness Center an alternative school. A dashcam also caught the crime on tape.
Katy ISD Police Assisted in Arrest
Katy ISD Police, at the request of the Houston Police Department, assisted in Jones’ arrest on Thursday.
Jones is being held on $55,000 bond. He was set to graduate with the 2021 Mayde Creek High School senior class.
He recently was awarded a full-ride scholarship to play football at Texas Southern University.
