Local Authorities Stress Importance on Mental Health after Katy Woman Takes Her Life

Yesterday morning deputies responded to a house in Katy where a woman was reported to be causing a disturbance. The scene ended in her taking her own life.

Sunday, February 23, 2026, Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call at 3200 Thicket Path Way, near Terracina and Morton Ranch. The home resides in the Morton Creek and Marcello Lakes area.
The report stated that a woman was causing a disturbance and trespassing. After authorities arrived the female left but then returned with a pistol and took her own life when deputies were still on the scene.
Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez took to social media to share the heartbreaking news stating that incidents like this one are hard for everyone involved—families, neighbors, and the first responders.
“This is a reminder that mental health struggles are real,” says Sheriff Gonzalez. “If you or someone you know is struggling, please know this: you are not alone, and help is available.”

“Reaching out can feel difficult — but it can also save a life,” says Sheriff Gonzalez. “We ask our community to keep all those impacted in your thoughts. Let’s continue to look out for one another, check in on our loved ones, and never hesitate to seek help when it’s needed.”
He stressed that if anyone is in immediate danger, call 911. If someone need to talk to someone, call or text 988.
