A mother who took her child for medical services at the Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus near Katy was killed in an apparent murder-suicide. The shooter died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Shooting at Texas Children's Hospital
Yesterday (Sunday, December 4, 2022) around 2:00 p.m. a woman was taken into the Texas Children’s Hospital West Campus after being shot in their parking lot. She later died from her injuries.
Authorities report that the suspect shot her and then is believed to have died by a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to authorities, the victim’s 8-year-old daughter was found uninjured in the back seat of the vehicle they were in. It is reported that the suspect was with the mother and her daughter. They were at Texas Children’s seeking medical services unrelated to the shooting.
Police secured the Texas Children’s Hospital parking lot as well as the neighboring parking lot at Methodist Hospital. Patients were still able to enter for treatment.
Harris County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the shooting and presumed Murder-Suicide. They have not released the names of the victim or suspect nor have the shared the relationship (if any) between the two.
