Police Found Car Stopped Near New In-N-Out Burger

Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies are investigating after a 17-year-old was shot and killed in a vehicle along Katy Fort Bed Road. According to Harris County Sheriff, Ed Gonzalez, police found the car stopped in the roadway. One teen had been shot in the neck and was pronounced dead at the scene. Two teenage boys and a girl (all 17-years of age) were also in the vehicle with the victim. This area is near the new In-N-Out Burger.

UPDATE: Victim Identified

Sheriff Gonzalez has identified the victim as Jakobi Xavier Mitchell. The 17-year-old is a senior at Cy-Parks High School in Cy Fair ISD and was the oldest of four brothers. Police believe shots were fired from outside the vehicle and then the other teens in the car found help from a police officer near the new In-N-Out.

"Our condolences go out to his family," says Sheriff Gonzalez. The investigation is still ongoing and authorities are searching for the gunman. Call 713-221-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS (8477) with any information.

Two Calls to 911 Authorities received two 911 reports of gunfire. One around 11:40 pm last night (Monday, November 25.) That initial 911 call alerted authorities of shooting at 1050 Katy Fort Bend Road near the Katy Elks Lodge.

A little while later after the first 911 call, a second call reported shots fired at the Crossing at Katy Ranch apartments at the 2400 block of Katy Ranch.

Ed Gonzalez later corrected the Tweet below indicating one of the victims was possibly a girl.

Victim not a Katy ISD Student

The address involved is zoned to Morton Ranch High School but we now know that the victim, Jakobi Xavier Mitchell was a senior at Cy-Parks High School in Cy Fair ISD.

Ongoing Investigation

Authorities suspect that the victim was killed when someone fired into the vehicle and then moved to the location on Katy Fort Bend Road where the other teens found an officer. The name has not been released and this is an ongoing investigation.
