According to Precinct 5 Constable Ted Heap there are several important things to do to protect your kids as you do your last minute holiday shopping: 1. Teach your children to stay close to you at all times while shopping.
2. Tell your children what to do if they get lost-- find a store clerk or security guard and ask for help.
3. Make sure your children know their full name, address and their parent's telephone number.
4. Do not leave your children in the car alone, even if you are only going in a store for a moment.
5. Do not let your children go to the car or the restroom alone.
